AuditFile for Claude

Read your engagements from Claude. The AuditFile connector gives Claude read-only access to the engagements, trial balances, findings, review notes, workpaper metadata and saved reports you can already see in AuditFile, with your own sign-in and permissions.

Connect in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and choose AuditFile from the directory. If your organization adds connectors centrally, an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Connect and sign in with your normal AuditFile account. MFA, single sign-on and firm IP rules apply as usual.
  3. Approve the read-only access on the AuditFile consent screen. Claude then lists the tools and asks before using them.

Your account's exact server address is shown in AuditFile under Developer Settings as the Hosted MCP URL, for example https://auditfile.com/mcp . Use it when adding the connector manually.

Connect in Claude Code

Run once, then use /mcp to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http auditfile https://auditfile.com/mcp

Claude Code signs in with the same AuditFile consent screen and keeps a short-lived, read-only token on your machine.

What Claude can read

  • Identity and discovery: who you are connected as, your clients, engagements, firm staff and licensed audit programs.
  • Engagements: engagement details, materiality and progress, the full section and procedure tree, and procedure sign-off state.
  • Accounting: trial balance summaries, accounts and balances, adjustments, analytical reviews and findings.
  • Evidence and comments: workpaper metadata and download links for supported file types, and procedure notes with their review threads.
  • Saved reports: Report Studio reports and their data, for firm administrators.

Every tool is read-only. Creating, changing or signing off audit work stays in AuditFile, where your firm's review and approval controls apply.

Try asking Claude

  • “Which AuditFile engagements are assigned to me, and which ones are due this month?”
  • “Summarize the trial balance for engagement 123 and list accounts with large year-over-year changes.”
  • “List the unresolved review comments on procedure 456 and draft replies for me to review.”
  • “Which findings on engagement 123 are material weaknesses, and what did we report last year?”

Security and permissions

  • Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and a consent screen that names the app asking for access.
  • The connection holds the read scope only and acts as you, within your engagement permissions.
  • Access tokens expire after two hours and are renewed automatically while you keep using Claude.
  • Disconnect from Claude at any time, or revoke the connection in AuditFile under Connected applications .
  • Firm controls apply: API access can be switched off per firm, and firm IP allowlists are enforced. Claude connects from Anthropic's published network range, 160.79.104.0/21.

Data handling

  • Tool results are returned to Claude under your Claude plan's data terms; AuditFile stores no conversation content.
  • Each request is logged with a request ID, the same as any AuditFile API call, for your firm's audit trail.
  • Workpaper tools return metadata and short-lived download links, not file contents.
  • The connector uses AuditFile's standard API. See the privacy policy and terms of service .
